Do you think Blizz upped the Drop Rate %'s of the rare fish? (Around 10-22-08)?
Look at all the peeps on the forum that have caught Mr. Pinchy and The One That Didn't Get Away over the last few days? Even Reports of frequent Old Crafty Catches?
I'm wondering ....
It's possible. However, it's probably more likely that it's just an increased amount of reporting; due to an increased interest in fishing generated by the achievement system.
I know in my own case, even though I've always been doing a lot of fishing, I've increase that activity significantly due to chasing achievements.

I think this has more to do with it. I've been fishing for almost 3 years but didn't pay ALOT of attention to the profession. I won the STV tourney and was first person on my server with Magical Crawdad, but other than that I just fished to get food buffs for raid. It wasn't until achievements came out that I really started researching the rarest fish mainly via this website which has been a tremendous help. I didn't even know what an Old Crafty or Old Ironjaw was until about 1-2 months ago. Thankfully though due to this site I got the heads up and fished up Crafty before patch, now there is always a bunch of horde sitting around fishing in Org.
Okay i just went to Try today on the Mr. Pinchy and in about what was it 10 cast or more i got 1... So though while i was here i could as well farm the school next to me also and what happend at that school i got 1 more Mr. Pinchy... now the odd thing is later tonight i though i would try ppls advice here and go Stonebull lake to catch the 15pound.... and wtf 20 catch i got it :/ either rate is buff after last night Maintaince on EU servers or im on a Ultra lucky row today.....
I agree it's just more interest in the subject now. People have caught these rare fish before. It's just most of them were worthless before. (Don't even sell well because of gold farmers). I'm still sticking with Bay of Storms for a while.
I fished up a Pinchy early yesterday too. I'd been fishing for him for awhile, though just while doing dailys really.

Very possible, I would say. They added the Hallowed end Headless Horseman items to the treat bags, so might have increased other achievement chances as well.
I caught my first ever Mr.Pinchy on 21st, and even that I don't have exact counts, I think I've fished approx 2000 fish from "highland" pools. But on the other hand, I haven't caught Ironjaw yet, with almost 1000 catches.
